Join Røst at Kulturmødet as a speaker
Do you have a message you want to share?
Are you interested in learning how to write and deliver speeches?
And would you like to participate in the festival Kulturmødet in Denmark with other young people from the Nordic countries?
Then you should consider applying for our course this summer.
Become a speaker at Kulturmødet in Denmark
Apply for a spot on the team, when Røst moves to Nykøbing Mors to facilitate a workshop and participate in Kulturmødet from August 18th to 22nd 2026.
The programme is for young people aged 18-30 from all the Nordic countries, and participation is free of charge.
Deadline for application is May 25th.
About the festival Kulturmødet
Kulturmødet in the island Mors is a three-day festival with art, music, talks, and conversations about art and culture. It brings together artists, authorities, opinion leaders, and citizens to assess current topics in the cultural debate and gain knowledge collectively. There will be talks, debates, performances, speeches, and many other types of democratic interaction.
You can watch a video from 2023 here to get the feel of it – and read more about it here (in Danish).
Workshops before Kulturmødet
Before we meet in Denmark we’ll have two online workshops on June 2nd and August 4th. Here you’ll start working on your speech. The first days of your stay in Denmark will also be dedicated to the speech that you will deliver at Kulturmødet later in the week. We are all staying together in Copenhagen and later in Nykøbing Mors.
The workshop language will be English, but you can write and deliver your speech in your national language to celebrate Nordic cooperation and diversity.
The facilitators Kristian Faurby and Cecilia Jensen from Røst will assist you throughout the entire process of writing and delivering a speech – from the initial idea and linguistic work to your body language and the nervousness that may arise when speaking in front of others.
Kristian and Cecilia are both educated in rhetorics from University of Copenhagen and have helped a lot of young people delivering their messages.
To be able to get feedback during the workshop, you will need to translate your script into English. When you deliver your speech, it will be shown in a translated version on screens for the audience to follow.
During the days, there will also be time to get to know each other, enjoy nature, and have a good time in Mors.
Speeches and the festival
On August 20th Kulturmødet opens and you and the other speakers will give your speeches on the stages of the festival. You will also participate in a panel discussion on youth and culture in the Nordic region, and you will co-create ‘the people’s speech of culture’ which will be made up of contributions from the guests at the festival.
And then of course we will participate in the impressive program at Kulturmødet of talks, debates, concerts, engage in discussions with other young people from the Nordic region and the North Atlantic, and experience the festival.
